Winter Time at the ZOO

Today we went to Hogle ZOO. We debated because the weather was iffy. At about noon the sky was blue so we packed up the stroller, coats, blankets for Lily and some snacks to eat on our adventure. Driving to the ZOO I had to wear my sunglasses it was so bright. And if any of you know me it has to be pretty darn bright for me to wear sunglasses. Well we were in for a big surprise! When you live on the other side of the valley the weather may not be the same across town, and it was not.

We pulled into the ZOO to a lovely snow storm. Haiden however, still wanted to visit the ZOO. We pulled the sleeping Lily out of the car and bundled her in the stroller with hat, coat, and blankets. Haiden was bundled up tight with two hats a scarf and his coat snapped and zipped to his chin. Figuring that we were going to get a season pass, we decided that even if we only stayed for a half hour it would be OK. We bought our tickets and walked into the very empty ZOO. No one else is as crazy as us to go to the ZOO in February, when it is 30 degrees outside and snowing.

Lily Bundled
Haiden BundledIn all reality the ZOO was very lovely. It is great to be the only people at each exhibit. You can look for as long as you want and there is no one waiting for you or pushing you out of the way. As we walked around the snow decreased and finally the blue sky peaked out from between the clouds. It is also nice to see active animals that are not so much during the summer. Some of the animals were inside and we did not get to see them but that is OK. The kids got to run with no fear of loosing them in the crowd. They enjoyed the open space and looking at the animals. Our half hour trip turned into a 4 hour trip. We saw everything that was open to see. It was a very nice time out of the house playing with the FAMILY!!! Haiden really wanted the Elephant to spray water.

Sooooo. It has been a while since I have updated my blog and I've been getting a little harrassment from some of my friends. So here goes!
January
came and went
and
I did not even see it pass.

The kids are well and growing like weeds (some a little faster than others!) Michael just finished his first semester of nursing school. He did well and is very excited for a week and a half break from school. Sleeping in is good. Next semester his school is 3 days a week instead of 2 and starts at 8am. An hour earlier does not seem all that much more stressful but Michael is a nite owl and his bed time is going to have to adjust.
This next semester Michael starts
CLINICALS and the first semester of NURSING classes.

One down and only 4 more to go!!!! It will pass before we know it :)

NEW YEARS EVE

For New Years Eve we all went to Melanie and Scott's for a party!!! We ate SEAFOOD and tons of other stuff. That is what we do best. Eat that is!!! We played games and a few hot tubed ooh that would actually just be Ashley and Ryan with their little chaperon Haiden. He has no fear and lets everyone know what he wants, and hot tubing was his desire of the moment.

When it was time for the count down we all put on our silly hats, lays and masks. We gathered in Mel and Scott's carpeted family room and my so sweet husband handed everyone a large handful of metallic glitter confetti. When the ball dropped we all yelled and threw confetti everywhere. It was in our hair clothes and all over the house. I mean all over, not long after the New year we all started to wander around the rest of the house and with us we took metallic confetti. All I can say is if the party is here next year, Michael will be the one to clean up the revenge of the confetti. I just know it will happen!

We played games until about 2am and then finally went home. Our kids managed to stay awake and join in the excitement until we started to drive. Once on the road they were both down for the count!!!

Happy New year to all of my wonderful friends and family.
I sincerely hope that you all have a wonderful 2009!!! :)

ChRiStMaS DaY

After opening presents at home with Haiden and Lily. We ventured in the snow storm to Michael's parents for Christmas with his family. We did not have our usual family get together with his extended family this year. And Mickey was in the hospital the 23rd having surgery. She got home Christmas Eve feeling OK. Michael's entire family was at his parents except Tyler who was with his dad. It is always nice to see Jeremy and Stephanie. We miss them throughout the year!

We all did the usual stuffing of faces then got to the opening of the presents. Practical gifts seemed to be a theme this year. I got some cushions for our kitchen chairs. They are chocolate brown and comfy. Michael got some cooking utensils, and the best gift of all was the gift certificates for groceries.

Each of the kids got toys and money. With the money from Uncle Jim and everyone else who gave us money we bought the kids a Wii. Even Lily loves the Wii and as soon as she walks downstairs she says "a Wii Wii a Wii Wii." She is in heaven once the Wii remote is in her hand even if the game console is not even on.

WE HAD A GREAT CHRISTMAS DAY!!!

Christmas Eve

As a family, just the four of us, we got to spend Christmas Eve together. We drove around neighborhoods and looked at the Christmas decorations. We had KFC for dinner, yummy! After the lights we opened our 1 gift for Christmas Eve (PJ's.) The kids took a bath and got ready for Santa to come. Haiden went to bed very nicely. I think he was a little excited! Lily on the other hand would not go to sleep. She had taken a late nap while we were looking at the lights. She was a little bear. Michael was getting Christmas ready while I wrestled Lily. Eventually it took a dads touch to get her to sleep. Christmas was set out and all of the presents wrapped around 1am, not that late I suppose.

Star Wars the Clone Wars PJ's for Haiden! So excited, complete BOY!

Princess Ariel PJ's for Lily. She is the little princess I was so hoping not to get. What happened to tom boys.

CHRISTMAS

Well I can't believe that Christmas has come and gone once more. It always seems so far away but is then just around the corner before we know it. This year my family had Christmas on the Sunday before Christmas because my brother had to work 12hours of Christmas day. Everyone finally got to see and hold Kai. I was not totally healthy but washed up real well and put a barrier between us and got to hold him for the first time. He was over two weeks old and I had only briefly seen him in the NICU the day he was born. He has changed tons!

Mom and Dad

Mom made breakfast our traditional Christmas meal. It was very good as always.

Grandpa Lindsay got to be with us for our gift exchange this Christmas.

We had a great night spending time with the family celebrating Christmas. The night was topped off by me being on call. So we did not have to leave before the party was over. I really hate having to leave early and miss out on the festivities!!! Also I am the one behind the camera so there is no pictures of me on my camera.
